The Learner profile contains a field called, "Profile Type", and this field is accessible under the Basic Information section of the user record.
This field is designed to help organizations distinguish between “internal” users (employees) and “external” users (customers, partners, contractors, suppliers, consultants, auditors, etc.).
There are several ways to enter or update this field on Learner profiles:.
1) Edit a user profile
2) ) Enable the Company Domains Setting
Account Owners can leverage the Company Domains setting on the Account Profile tab to automatically designate Profile Types for each new user. Account Owners can enter the domain values that an internal user could have on his/her email address.
- If a new user's email address contains a domain string that matches one of the domain strings entered by an Account Owner, the new user will automatically be designated as an "Internal" Profile Type.
- If a new user's email address contains a domain value that does not match any of the domain strings entered by an Account Owner, the new user will automatically be designated as an "External" Profile Type.
- If a new user is created without an email address, the Profile Type will not be set for that person.
Note: The 'Profile type' field is not designed to be automatically updated for existing users when there is a change in an email domain that identifies a profile as internal or external. This profile field will be automatically set for new users and will need to be manually updated by an administrator for existing users.
